UKAS accreditation for sound insulation testing

AES, one of the country’s leading acoustic consultancies, has been granted accreditation for its sound insulation testing service by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service. This means that AES is now accredited under both the third party quality assurance schemes for sound insulation testing approved by the government
When sound insulation tests are carried out in England and Wales, Building Regulation Approved Document E states that tests should be carried out by test bodies with third party accreditation and that this accreditation should, preferably, be by UKAS (or a European equivalent). To obtain UKAS accreditation, the methods used in testing have to be fully documented, and evidence provided of staff training, record keeping, and test equipment calibration. UKAS audit all the documentary evidence and sound insulation tests are witnessed by an acoustic expert retained by UKAS. Persons using UKAS accredited test bodies can, therefore, be confident that the results obtained are reliable, and will be accepted by all regulatory bodies.

AES is an accredited member of the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) and consultants who are members of the Institute of Acoustics, AES undertake environmental and building acoustics assessments nationwide from bases in London, the Midlands, Yorkshire and North East.
